Clunes, Central West Victoria, Australia.
Clunes is an old gold mining town in the mid-west of the state of Victoria, in Australia. It was the site of the first official gold discovery in Victoria in 1851. Clunes remains one of the most original & intact gold towns in Australia, & there are over 50 buildings of historical significance.
More recent history has Clunes as the site for the making of parts of two well known films: "Mad Max", & also a recent version of the story of Ned Kelly.
