"Signs in a Landscape #1"
Halls Gap, The Grampians, Victoria, Australia
This image was made in the Grampians, on the track to Chataqua Peak, near Halls Gap. We found the track a bit hard to follow in places until we noticed that every now & again there were these red or orange triangles on a rock.
We decided to follow the direction of the arrow, and of course they were intentional track markers. We found the peak (& a great view into the valley). It made me think of how certain signs in the landscape are “markers” in different ways.
I now have many images that carry “messages”, some serious, and some humourous. This one however, was simply a real signpost!
I just like the way the red triangle repeats the similar shapes of rock & shadow. Graphically it works for me.
